What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a visited server stores on your hard disk or in your browser's memory. A cookie file enables its issuer to identify, personalize the service used and store technical data on the terminal in which it is stored, for the duration of the cookie's validity or storage.

Some cookies are essential for using the service, while others are used to optimize and personalize the content displayed.
